A parcel explosion at a postal sorting terminal in Kyiv’s Obolon district on Friday, June 5, killed one person and injured two others.

The blast occurred during the inspection of a package at a logistics facility operated by postal company Nova Poshta, according to Kyiv police.

A 59-year-old employee died at the scene, while two others, aged 37 and 41, were injured.

Kyiv prosecutors later said the case has been registered under Part 3 of Article 258 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, covering a terrorist act resulting in death.

The investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
