The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) exposed a large-scale scheme involving the misappropriation of UAH 104 million during the construction of a protective structure for an electrical substation in Zakarpattia. A former official was notified of suspicion under Article 191 of the Criminal Code for embezzlement on a particularly large scale.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) exposed a large-scale scheme involving the misappropriation of UAH 104 million during the construction of a protective structure for an electrical substation in Zakarpattia.

A former head of the regional Service for Restoration and Infrastructure Development was notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for embezzlement on a particularly large scale.

The investigation found that the suspect, while in office in March 2024, signed completion certificates for the construction of protection for an energy facility against Russian air attacks.

The total cost of the project was UAH 5.1 billion, and the official approved artificially inflated prices for building materials to misappropriate funds.

The protective structures for the electrical substation remain unfinished.

The SSU announced suspicion notices against three organizers of illegal voting in occupied parts of Luhansk.
