The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) uncovered a Russian information and psychological operation targeting the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia using caller ID spoofing technology via IP telephony.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has uncovered a new information and psychological special operation (IPSO) conducted by Russian intelligence services, aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Zakarpattia region (Transcarpathia) and increasing tensions between Ukraine and Hungary.

The Russians are using so-called caller ID spoofing technology via IP telephony to carry out the operation.

The enemy is making "anonymous" calls, disguised as coming from Ukrainian phone numbers, issuing threats to members of the Hungarian national community.

During these calls, unidentified individuals, posing as members of 'national-patriotic groups' and even as law enforcement officers of our state, demanded that community representatives leave Ukraine and threatened them with physical violence.

Technical analysis has confirmed that the calls originated from the territory of the Russian Federation.

The SBU said it is working on countering the Russian operation and urged Ukrainian citizens not to succumb to such provocations

A tax evasion scheme involving the organization of bus trips to the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia was uncovered in Zakarpattia, with approximately 200,000 passengers transported between 2024 and 2026 using unofficial payment methods.

Seizures included over 10,000 US dollars, around 30,000 euros, nearly 20,000 Czech korunas, and 15,000 hryvnias, along with equipment and documents related to 'shadow' accounting.

The preliminary legal classification of the case is tax evasion and money laundering.
