Ukraine's missile defense forces did not allow the enemy to achieve their goal of hitting Kyiv. The missiles were shot down on the approach to the capital.

One Russian and two ballistic missiles were used in the attack, as well as five cruise missiles and eight kamikaze drones.

The two North Korean ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and all eight kamikaze drones were intercepted by Ukraine's air defenses.

"This is the third ballistic missile attack on the capital in August with a clear interval of six days between each attack," the Kyiv City Military Administration posted on Telegram after the early morning barrage.

The X-101 missile was launched from a Russian aircraft operating in radio silence mode, with the aircraft based at Engels airbase.

This was the first time a cluster munition warhead was used in a strike on Kyiv.
