Iryna Farion was murdered on a street in Lviv, western Ukraine, on Friday evening around 8 p.m. local time while walking down the street when an unknown assailant shot her in the head.

She was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy announced at 11:30 p.m. that Farion had succumbed to her injuries in what he called 'an audacious, brazen murder.'
