French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview that he does not rule out sending European ground troops to Ukraine if Russia breaks through the front line and Ukraine requests such assistance.

If the Russians broke through the front line, if there was a request from Ukraine - which is not the case today - we would legitimately ask ourselves the question. Therefore, I think that to exclude this a priori means not to learn the lessons of the last two years.

If Russia decides to go further, we will all have to ask ourselves this question.

Because if Russia wins the war, there will be no more security in Europe.

At the NATO summit in the summer of 2022, we all ruled out the supply of tanks, long-range missiles and aircraft. Now we are all in the process (of these deliveries), so it would be wrong to exclude the rest.

Macron said he is not ruling out deploying troops to Ukraine because Russia has not ruled anything out and the West has been too hesitant in defining limits of its actions.

Macron said if Russia breaks through the front lines and Ukraine makes a request (which is not the case today), France would have to legitimately consider the question.

Macron stated his strategic objective is that Russia cannot win in Ukraine, as a Russian victory would threaten security in Europe including Moldova, Romania, Poland, and Lithuania.
