Moscow's Basmanny District Court issued an in absentia arrest warrant for Vasyl Maliuk, head of Ukraine's Security Service, placing him on federal and international wanted lists.

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow had 'arrested' Maliuk in absentia and put him on the federal and international wanted list.

Maliuk stated that the decision to arrest him by the Kremlin's pet judges does not deserve any attention.

Evan Gershkovich was arrested in Yekaterinburg in late March 2023 while working on a story about the Wagner mercenary group's recruiting methods and Russian citizens' views on the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Russia accused Gershkovich of espionage, which carries a maximum prison term of up to 20 years.

The U.S. government and WSJ strongly deny the espionage charges.

Russia has yet to publicly present evidence of the supposed crimes.
