Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) attacked the Engels Air Base in Russia's Saratov region with drones on the night of March 19-20.

This was the planned work of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

Russian Defence Ministry stated that on-duty air defence systems destroyed five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the territories of Belgorod (1 UAV) and Saratov (4 UAVs) oblasts

Ukraine's military intelligence operatives were responsible for the attack on Engels airbase

Sources from military intelligence said Ukrainian drones were used in the attack and targets were hit

11 Russian military aircraft were at the airbase at the time of the attack, including six Tu-95 and three Tu-160 bombers

Explosions were heard at Engels air base early on March 20, and Ukrainian special services confirmed that the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) is behind the drone attack.

On the morning of 20 March at 5:36 am, 4 drones attacked Engels. Russian authorities reported that all 4 UAVs were shot down.

3 of the 4 downed drones fell on the territory of the 'Engels 1' military airfield. There were no casualties.
