Ukrainian police detained a 41-year-old man in Kyiv Oblast for recruiting Ukrainian women aged 18-35 for prostitution in Israel through Telegram advertisements.

The organiser, a man, 41, posted ads on Telegram channels targeting Ukrainian women aged 18 to 35 to engage them in prostitution in Israel. The daily income amounted to over US$1,500.

Officers of the Migration Police Department at one of the border checkpoints in Lviv Oblast have prevented a Ukrainian citizen from being trafficked with intent of providing sexual services.

The police executed three authorised searches resulting in the seizure of cash, bank cards, notebooks with drafts and other evidence.

The man was served with a notice of suspicion over human trafficking. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

The man was providing information about Ukrainian military units, as well as Kyiv's energy infrastructure. The Russian military had a particular interest in the location of the city's electrical substations and bases where Ukrainian equipment was being repaired, so that Russia could prepare a new series of targeted airstrikes on Kyiv.
