Ukrainian soldiers reported heavy fighting in the Zaporizhzhia direction where Russian forces had heavily mined all approaches and planted mines on retreat paths, causing significant Ukrainian sapper casualties.

The Russians were given too much time to get prepared for the widely announced Ukrainian counteroffensive... Every square inch is mined. They plant mines on approaches to their positions and blow them when they retreat.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's Defence Forces continued to conduct offensive operations on the Melitopol and Berdiansk fronts, where they are consolidating the positions they had previously captured.
