NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that NATO allies will not be intimidated by Russia's nuclear threats and will continue supporting Ukraine, while accusing Russia of undermining international arms control agreements.

Russia seeks to undermine the foundations of the international rules-based system by ignoring, violating or abandoning a large part of the network of global arms control agreements that have kept the world safe.

Jens Stoltenberg stated that Western allies will not refuse to support Ukraine in the war against the Russian Federation, despite the Kremlin’s threat to use nuclear weapons.

Stoltenberg said Russia seeks to undermine the foundations of the international security system by ignoring, violating, or reneging on much of the network of international arms control agreements.

Stoltenberg recalled that Russia has suspended its participation in the new Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms and is not complying with the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate- and Short-Range Missiles.

Stoltenberg stated that Russia is intensifying its provocative nuclear rhetoric, threatening to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
