Russian-occupied authorities in Mariupol are conducting a sham referendum on joining the Russian Federation, characterized by coercion and mobile polling stations. The event is widely viewed as illegal and illegitimate by Ukraine and international observers.

Russian-appointed puppet leaders in Mariupol reported a turnout of more than 77 percent for the sham referendum.

Authorities are searching for mobile polling stations and forcing people to vote, with ballot box carriers hinting at consequences of refusal using machine guns.

The referendum on joining the Russian Federation is illegal and will last until 27 September 2022.

Russian occupation forces are using intimidation and door-to-door visits in temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast to force residents to vote in the pseudo-referendums.

Explosions and small arms fire were heard in Livoberezhny district at 14:35 and in Primorsky district at 16:15.

Residents of Pishchanka reported that the shooting was coming from Kadyrovites.
