In March 2022, Russian forces captured the village of Yahidne in Chernihiv Oblast and detained over 350 residents in a school basement for 28 days, during which 10 people died.

Russian troops entered the village and drove the men, women and children out of the houses, threatening them with weapons, and took them to the basement of the local school where they were held for four weeks. From 3 March to 31 March 2022, more than 350 residents were in the basement. 10 people died during their stay.
